LABOR REFORMATION INCREASES TO 20 DAYS THE VACATIONS PERIOD FOR WORKERS

Bogotá, August 21.- The Labor Reformation project contemplate in other points, to increase worker's vacations to 20 working days, to increase to 25% the remuneration for diurnal works and to offer employment to young people as well as people of 50 years old and up.

At the time when the details of the Labor Reformation project were disclosed, the Minister of Labor and Health, Juan Luis Londoño, affirmed that this proposal looks to strengthen the economic adjustment process in which the government is bent on, whose objective is that the Colombians can "invest, export and build.

VACATION'S DURATION
The bill expounds that every year the workers will have the right to 20 working days of remunerated vacations, and one day more of compensation. The in force vacation period is of 15 working days.
It contemplates too that health's professionals who participate in programs to fight against tuberculosis and those who work in X's Ray application will have the right to 15 days of remunerated vacations per each semester of service.

CREATION OF TWO DIURNAL WORK SHIFTS
The bill propose to increase the work's supply through the creation of two diurnal work shifts, each one of which will last eight hours. The first one will be from five in the morning to one in the afternoon; and the second one will be from two in the afternoon to nine in the evening.

INDEMNITY FOR DISMISSAL IN CONTRACTS WITH NO DEFINED TERM

In this modality, workers that earn more than 10 minimum salaries will have the right for an indemnity of 15 days per year worked. Workers that earn less than 10 minimum salaries will be indemnified with 20 days per year worked.

In this subject, the bill establish a mechanism of compensation, that consist of that the employer increases in one point the contribution that the employee gives to his Funds of Unemployment.

MORE EMPLOYMENTS FOR YOUNG AND 50 YEAR OLD PEOPLE AND UP
The initiative also looks to increase the rates of employment for young people between 18 and 25 years old and for 50 year old adults and up. The Minister Londoño stood out that with this proposal the President Alvaro Uribe Vélez accomplish, less than one month, his fifth promise of Government.

SURCHARGE FOR EXTRA HOURS
The Labor Reformation project includes to increase in 25 percent the remuneration of the nocturnal work, compared with diurnal work.

INCENTIVES TO SPECIAL GROUPS
In the same way, the project contains special subsidies for:
- Working prisoners
- Rehabilitated people that came from outlawed groups
- Unemployed heads of family
- Young people between 18 and 25 years old and 50 year old adults and up
- People whose disability would be more than 25 percent.
