ARMY AND POLICE RESCUES ZIPAQUIRÁ’S BISHOP AND THE PRIEST FROM PACHO

Bogotá, November 15 (CNE) – Through joint operations, the Army and National Police rescued the two religious figures that were kidnapped on Monday by Farc members: Monsignor Jorge Jiménez, Zipaquirá’s bishop, and Desidero Orjuela, a priest from Pacho.

The liberation was possible thanks to the information provided by citizens of the municipality of Topaípí, Cundinamarca. The Government assured that the individuals that collaborated with the rescue process will receive 100 million pesos as a reward.

Moreover, the State underscored the citizens cooperation towards the Public Force, and affirmed that this event proves once and again the fact that "when Colombians unite to achieve a goal, better results are obtained."

Finally, the Government requested rapid and effective citizen collaboration whenever a kidnap occurs in order to terminate this crime.
