Chancellor affirmed that conditions for peace dialogues are established

Bogota, November 29 (CNE) – The French Chancellor, Dominique De Villepin, assured today that the Government of Colombia, the people, and the international community, have established the conditions to start a negotiation process. "Now, it’s Farc’s turn to assume responsibilities," he manifested.
During a press conference offered in Bogotá, the French civil servant underscored "the will" of President Álvaro Uribe to realize a humanitarian agreement.
"President Uribe has expressed vehemently his will to execute a humanitarian agreement. He asked France to mobilize actively besides the UN to facilitate the agreement’s conduction," the Chancellor said.
"It’s Farc’s turn to assume its responsibilities before Colombians. France is ready to respond positively. We must show will, courage, and determination to this request. But nothing can be done without an interlocutor," he added.
De Villepin reaffirmed his Government’s compromise to support an eventual process, as well as programs destined to the substitution of illegal crops and institutional strengthening.
"We have the conviction that there’s an emergency in Colombia, and the international community agrees that it can not wait any longer. I consider that we count with all the conditions that’ll allow such interchange and, perhaps, I expect it occurs during the the next few days or weeks," he revealed.
According to De Villepin, Farc members mustn’t request more demands: "During the last months, I’ve traveled to different zones of the world characterized for their crisis, like Afghanistan, Middle East, and Africa. There is something we must all know: peace and humanitarian actions do not match with previewed measurements," he pointed out.
"When one is willing to act, everything is possible. Now a days, in Colombia, the possibility to act rests on the Government and Colombian authorities; and they’ve told me they are ready," the Chancellor said.
Moreover, he assured that, as a consequence of the people’s suffering, Farc members have the responsibility to start with the process.
"Unfortunately, many hostage cases lack the information required for their solution. Consequently, it is important to share responsibilities. We need an answer," De Villepin sustained.
