President Álvaro Uribe Vélez said that around 550 investors from 44 countries will attend the economic meeting that will be hold in Cartagena, which sets a record of attendance to that forum in its Latin American version. He emphasized how positive that is, considering that Colombia is today a very important destiny for investment in the world.
Bogota, Apr 6 (SP). The significant attendance to the World Economic Forum, Latin American chapter, which begins today in Cartagena, shows that “the Democratic Security policy has gain back confidence in Colombia”.
President Álvaro Uribe Vélez declared that on Tuesday, during an interview with Radio Nacional of Colombia, confirming that 550 high-level investors of 44 countries will attend the economic meeting.
“I have been informed that we have beaten the attendance record. If we compare that with the meeting held in Brazil and the meeting held in Mexico, we have beaten a record with more than 550 high-level investors from 44 countries and 250 international economic journalists”, the Head of State said.
He emphasized how positive that is, considering that Colombia is today a very important destiny for investment in the world. “And those two elements, security and investment, help us finance social policies, so the country can overcome poverty, so the country can build equity”.
Through that radio station, the Colombian President welcomed the attendees to the Forum and said that they expect that the fact of Cartagena being the host of that event could bring an economic growth to the country, which will be reflected on its social and economic development.
“Through Radio Nacional, I welcome all the visitors gathered in Cartagena; visitors from 44 countries. And I hope that the visit of all these investors to Colombia, to the World Economic Forum, can be useful not only to explore the world’s economy, but also to increase investment in Colombia. An investment that, with fraternity, must become a way for Colombia to overcome poverty and build equity”, the Head of State said. |
