The President of the organization, Jacob Kellenberger gave President Álvaro Uribe that news, during a meeting in Davos. The Head of State thanked the leader for all the Red Cross presence in Colombia.
Davos, Switzerland, Jan 28 (SP). Displacement in Colombia has reduced 50 per cent during 2009, according to the President of the International Red Cross, who gave that information to President Álvaro Uribe during a meeting they held this Thursday in Davos.
At the meeting, Uribe and Kellenberger, made a full revision about displacements and they both agreed in the need to prevent that problem, especially in the authorities’ operations against drug trafficking.
The President of the International Red Cross also acknowledged the commitments and the efforts of the Colombian Government to end with antipersonnel mines. In addition, he praised the results obtained with Ottawa’s Convention, which was hold in Cartagena from November 30 to December 4 2009.
