Last year, 2.128 members from the Farc, 492 from the Eln and 18 members of breakaway groups decided to leave guerrillas organizations. Since August 7 2002, 20.555 members of illegal groups have individually demobilized.
Bogota, Jan 4 (SP). During 2009, 2.638 guerrilla members demobilized according to the Program for Humanitarian Aid to Demobilized members (Pahd).
Last year, 2.128 members from the Farc, 492 from the Eln and 18 members of breakaway groups decided to leave guerrillas organizations. According to the Pahd’s report, 221 are minors and 593 are women.
Those people deserted because of the mistreated way that they received in the organizations and because of the military pressure of the Armed Forces and turned in themselves to the following authorities: 2.343 to Public Forces units; 205, to the DAS (Administrative Department of Security); 82 to the Colombian Institute for Family Welfare (Icbf); 3 to the Ombudsman Office; 3 to the Legal Capacity Office and 2 to the General Attorney’s Office.
The departments with most number of demobilized members in 2009 were Cundinamarca with 382; Antioquia with 269; Valle del Cauca with 265 and Meta with 225. The rest of the demobilization process was in different regions of the country showing less concentration of demobilized members per place.
Including 2009 demobilizations, 20.555 members of illegal groups have leaved those organizations since August 7 2002. |
