The Police captured today drug-trafficker aka ‘Don Mario’

Aka ‘Don Mario’ was in the list of the most wanted criminal band leaders of the country. President Uribe himself classified his capture as a priority and offered a reward of 5 thousand million pesos. The captured has a current extradition order.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, April 15 (SP). The Press Secretary of the Presidency, César Mauricio Velásquez, confirmed this Wednesday, from Rio de Janeiro (Brazil, the capture of the drug-trafficker Daniel Rendón Herrera, aka ‘Don Mario’, for whom authorities were giving a reward up to 5 thousand million pesos.

“This is the information that the Government confirms trough the Police Direction: this drug-trafficker who was avoiding Justice for a long time has been captured. The capture of aka ‘Don Mario’ in Necoclí is an achievement for Colombian Institutions, for the Police” pointed Velásquez to the press.

Rendón Herrera was captured by an elite group of the Judicial Police (Dijin), at the Antioquia’s Urabá, early in the morning of this Wednesday. By this time the authorities are doing all the judicial and transfer procedures.

Velásquez revealed that President Álvaro Uribe Vélez was informed about the capture when he was at a meeting with his counterpart of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The President told him about this important capture.

“This way, the Colombian Government confirms this information. The President was, and he still is (9:20am Colombian time), at a meeting with the president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and directly confirmed this good news for the safety of all Colombians, that reinforce the Democratic Security”, he added.
