Democrat Senator Max Baucus highlighted Colombia’s advances in Union Trade members’ protection |

The Senator, who had a meeting with President Álvaro Uribe Vélez this Saturday, also reminded that Colombia is important for his country, because it is a “strong friend” of the United States.
Puerto España, Trinidad & Tobago, April 18 (SP). Endorsement to Colombia expressed this Saturday the United States Democrat congressman Max Baucus, President of the Finance Committee of the United States Senate, who praised the advances of our country in security and protection to Union Trade members.
“There has been progress. Colombia increased security and protection”, pointed the senator after a meeting with President Álvaro Uribe Vélez, at the Americas Summit in Trinidad. Charles Rangel, Democrat Representative and President of the Ways and Means Committee of the House of Representatives were also at meeting.
The congressmen also talked with the Head of State abut the Free Trade Agreement between both countries. About it, Baucus and Rangel declared that they were optimistic about the future trade agreement, which ratification is pending by the United States Congress.
In the same way, Baucus reminded the importance of Colombia for its historical friendship with the United States.
