President Uribe called for strengthening cooperation in the ‘neighborhood’

The leader reminded that in Latin America “we all are the same town, we have lived history together, we have to live the present together and look for a future together”, at a conference organized by the New Economy Forum, the Wall Street Journal and the BBVA.

Madrid, Spain, April 28 (SP). The President of Colombia, Álvaro Uribe Vélez, said that it would be very positive to strength cooperation between border countries, at the time he was underlining that these values, practiced by the European Union, should be practiced in Latin America.

“The European Union made the world feel respect for the democratic rule; the European Union made every country to reject terrorism and help each other in the fight against terrorism. That is what Latin America needs”, the Head of State said in a conference planned by the New Economy Forum, the Wall Street Journal and the BBVA in Madrid.

He added that the European Union helped to make ideological nuances to spin around into a democratic balance and said that “that would be very good for Latin America”

To the businessmen audience he remembered “we all are the same town, we have lived history together, we have to live the present together and look for a future together”

He also highlighted: “I think that respect and collaboration are needed”

Finally, he invited neighboring countries to strengthen integration ties.
