Lima, Peru, August 4 (SP). At the end of his first meeting in Lima, as part of his South American tour, President Álvaro Uribe Vélez thanked the President of Peru, Alan García, for his deference
President of Peru, Alan García: “Dear Journalists: Peru welcomes a great friend of our country, President Alvaro Uribe, and sends through him greetings to the great Colombia.
President Uribe has come here to talk about different matters of continental interest and about some awkward situations that have happened to Colombia, unfortunately, as victim of some facts that should not happen.
But we have an agreement of few declarations that I am going to respect it. But President Uribe and the Colombian people know very well how much Peruvians love their Nation and how much respect we have for the work for peace, for the progress, for the social development, that President Uribe has accomplished.
I think that history is going to acknowledge, much and soon, how much good has been done, not only for Colombia, but for the democratic model of our continent, thanks to the effort made by President Uribe and his Government.
We welcome you once more and we will always be supporting that fundamental work that you have done.
President Álvaro Uribe Vélez: “Thank you very much.
Dear Journalists, I express all our gratitude to President Alan Garcia, to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (of Peru, José Antonio García Belaúnde).
