“The cooperation received from the United States, framed in multilateral agreements of the United Nations and the Organization of American States has been a practical and efficient collaboration. The United States have meet that call from Colombia”, the Head of State pointed during the extraordinary summit of the Union of South American Nations (Usan), in Bariloche, Argentina.
Bariloche, Argentina, Aug 28 (SP). President Álvaro Uribe Vélez pointed that cooperation agreement with the United States has an important component of co-liability in the fight against terrorism and drugs.
“This agreement with the United States also has very important components as the co-liability in the fight against terrorism and drugs. The co-liability subject has to be a subject that goes beyond speeches”, he said.
The Leader reminded that Colombia has deeply suffered the scourge of narco-terrorism, at the time he was speaking about the useful cooperation received from the United States.
“The cooperation received from the United States, framed in multilateral agreements of the United Nations and the Organization of American States has been a practical and efficient collaboration. The United States has met that call from Colombia”, he pointed.
In addition, he stressed that the current situation shows the need to go trough the concept of co-liability.
“We also think that nowadays reality shows the need to go trough the concept of co-liability. In the beginning people used to say that we produce because there are countries that consume. In our countries, consumption has greatly increased”, he warned.
President Uribe said that drugs’ signs are beginning to affect us all equally, after saying that there is no point in make that old division between producers and consumers.
“One of the discussions that we propose is that co-liability must be to all, and we all have the risks of production, drug trafficking and consumption. And we can not hide the growth of consumption in the countries of South America”, the Head of State pointed out. |
