According to the Minister of Defense, Gabriel Silva, the agreement with the United Nations for Human Rights, will allow Public Forces to count on the support and assessment of the most important institution in that field.
Bogotá, Dec 21 (SP). Minister of Defense, Gabriel Silva, said this Monday that the support and monitoring agreement to the Human Rights policy was recently signed with the United Nations Organization, as a result of the progress of the Public Forces in that field.
“That means that the progress made, justifies the United Nations to take part, in an institutional way, in monitoring and strengthening that policy”, the Defense Minister said while he was making a review of the measures adopted to guarantee full respect for Human Rights.
During the last Human Rights’ accountability of the year, Minister Silva labeled that agreement as historical. “This agreement allows us to work closely with the most important multilateral organization in Human Rights and we count with their wisdom and support to move forward with that progress”.
A special mechanism will be created through that agreement, in order to measure the results of the application of the five lines of the Human Rights’ policy.
At the end, Minister Silva made a review of the 15 actions implemented by the Armed Forces to guarantee full protection of Human Rights. |
