Santa Marta, July 23 (SP). President Álvaro Uribe Vélez stated that all security agreements that Colombia signs with other countries are not meant no attack third parties.

“These agreements are never made to create conditions to attack third parties or states. This is excluded from the text, the agreements and in the practice of Colombia.

Colombia is a country historically attacked by terrorism, by drug trafficking, and in the last years has fight against terrorism and against drug trafficking, and it has never been an attacker of the international community” the President said during the opening act of the ‘Fifth meeting of Interagency Coordination’, arranged by Presidential Agency Acción Social in Santa Marta.

The Head of State highlighted that his Government does not attack governments or people, but is fighting against terrorism.

“We fight against terrorists; we do not attack governments or people. We fight against terrorist who attack Colombia every day”, he said.

He added that for the international community, is better that Colombia defeats drug trafficking, instead that drug trafficking have the possibility to prosper again in Colombia.

“That is why we ask all the countries for help, to help us in this fight (against drug trafficking). That is why we appreciate all the support in this practical fight, such as the United States’ support with Plan Colombia, and now with the new security agreement”, the President finished.
