President Álvaro Uribe reminded that foreign direct investment in Colombia reached 3 thousand 600 million dollars during the first six months of 2009, which is considerably higher than before the beginning of his administration.
Bogota, July 2 (SP). President Álvaro Uribe Vélez said that despite world economic crisis there is still confidence in Colombia and pointed that investment rate in the country is around 25%.
At the 80 anniversary of the stock market in our country, the Head of State also highlighted that the situation of the market has not been an obstacle for the flow of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
“Among all this problems of the economy, the country has advanced a lot in investment trust. On June 20 we were informed that during the present year we had, 3 thousand 600 million dollars of foreign direct investment” the Head of State reminded.
He said that even though this is a 15 point lower percentage compared to the last year, it is, in any case, higher than before the application o the policies of his administration.
“Years of 500, 700, 1.500 million dollars. In the last years, 8 thousand 500 (million dollars) 6 thousand 500 (million dollars), 9 thousand 25 (million dollars) and the last year 10 thousand 564 (million dollars)” The Leader pointed.
He added that the 3 thousand 600 million dollars of FDI are a reason to continue with the efforts to keep increasing investors’ trust. |
