Montreal, Canada, June 10 (SP). The President of Colombia, Álvaro Uribe Vélez, had a working breakfast with 20 members of Canadian companies, as part of his visit to Montreal to participate in the International Economic Forum of the Americas, arranged by the Conference of Montreal.
At the meeting, the Head of State exposed the progress made in the field of security, economy, and social subjects such as health and education.
He explained that the key word of his Government is ‘trust’ to prosper, to generate equity and to have less difficulties, especially in this time of crisis.
In that way, the Leader said that trust has been based in the search of Democratic Security, conditions for investment and social cohesion, which means better job conditions and affiliation to social security.
At the same time he reminded the efforts of the Government to equally protect trade union leaders, journalist, politicians and workers.
As for Michael Brunet, President of the Fraser Milner and Casgrain firm, speaking in the name of Canadian industry, he highlighted the progress of the Colombian Government and invited businessmen to definitely support a Free Trade Agreement between both countries.
The Colombian President had the opportunity to be with businessmen of different fields as communications, construction, energy, metallurgy and banking.
At the end of the meeting, President Uribe went to the International Economic Forum of the Americas, where he spoke about free trade in Latin America.
