The Head of State travels this Tuesday June 9 to Montreal, with the Minister of Foreign Affair Jaime Bermúdez Merizalde and the Minister of Commerce Luis Guillermo Plata. He will meet with the Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper, and then he will have an extensive meeting with members of the Ministers’ Cabinet and with the leader of the official opposition of the Canadian Liberal Party Michel Ignatieff.
Bogota, June 9 (SP). The President of Colombia Álvaro Uribe Vélez, goes this Tuesday to Canada with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Commerce, Jaime Bermúdez and Luis Guillermo Plata, to promote the approval of the Free Trade Agreement in the Parliament of the North American country.
That was stated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jaime Bermúdez and he said that it will be meetings with representatives of the Government and members of the Parliament.
“The Canadian Government is in tune with this subject” Bermúdez pointed.
He said that President Uribe will meet Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper, at the Canadian Parliament, and the he will have an extensive meeting with members of the Ministers’ Cabinet and with the leader of the official opposition of the Canadian Liberal Party Michel Ignatieff.
Minister Bermudez also reminded that he was in Canada a week ago and held some meetings with the President of the Liberal Party and the President of the Commerce Committee.
“This time we are going because the President has been invited by the Canadian Government to a businessmen forum, to have this opportunity and also talk with the members of the Parliament, with the group of liberals and with other members of the Parliament who are interested in the subject”, he said.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs insisted that the best way to absolutely validate human rights is to create more employment opportunities as well as legal investment and tourism.
“That way we will eradicate drug trafficking and we will have more options for the people of our country”, he added.
About the visit of the President to the United States, Minister Bermúdez said that the Leader was invited to Providence (Rhode Island) to a summit of Mayors of that country.
“He will have bilateral meetings with several Mayors and he will also participate as lecturer in that event”, he finished. |
