San Salvador, El Salvador, June 1 (SP). At the inauguration of the new President-elected Mauricio Funes, the Colombian Head of State Álvaro Uribe Vélez expressed to the press that Colombia celebrates this democratic process of El Salvador.

The Leader went, along with other Heads of State and the Prince and Princess of Asturias, to the official ceremony of inauguration of the Presidency of the Central American country, held at the International Fair and Convention Center of San Salvador.

“We have had very good relations with El Salvador. We want to build the best relations with the new Government”, President Uribe said.

As for the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jaime Bermúdez, he highlighted the democratic model of El Salvador and celebrated that this country was able to overcome that situation.

“It is an expression that this country, that a few years ago suffered from the drama of terrorism, and of a civil war was able to completely overcome that issue” Bermúdez finished.
