“Violent acts from the Farc, violent acts form the Eln, violent acts from criminal bands. We should communicate these daily events, once or twice a week, to international organizations using our own formats. Let the international opinion and our own country know about this. We must do it” President Uribe ordered Minister of Defense.
Bogotá, June 3 (SP). President Álvaro Uribe Vélez ordered, this Wednesday, that the Ministry of Defense must denounce violent acts committed by terrorist groups before the United Nations (UN) and other international organizations.
“I think General Padilla, as acting Minister of Defense, vice Ministers, that is very important to implement the decision that every violent act, must be immediately denounced before the United Nations and all international organizations”, Uribe Vélez said.
The Head of State declared that these reports must include all the violent acts of guerrillas and criminal bands.
“Violent acts from the Farc, violent acts form the Eln, violent acts from criminal bands. We should communicate these daily events, once or twice a week, to international organizations using our own formats. Let the international opinion and our own country know about this. We must do it”, he highlighted.
During the graduation ceremony of second lieutenants, at the General José María Córdova Military School of Cadets, Uribe admitted that there has been a lack of strength to denounce false accusations.
“I think that the President and the Armed Forces are deficient in one thing. As we have been very prompt and efficient penalizing extrajudicial executions, we must be more aggressive to denounce false accusations”, President Uribe pointed.
According to that, he made the Ministry of Defense responsible for reporting false accusations and violent acts.
“When there is a false accusation, if the Government, the commanders and the Ministry of Defense do not refute it, soldiers could become apathetic. I think we are obligated to report false accusations and denounce it”, he explained. |
