Keep financing through the crisis, President Uribe asked to multilaterals

“Solved, as it appears to be, the multilateral financing for 2009, now we have to clear the road for 2010 and 2011”, pointed the Head of State at the inauguration of the IADB Assembly.

Medellín, March 29 (SP). Keep financing the countries, through the world economy crisis, asked President Álvaro Uribe Vélez to multilateral credit organizations this Sunday.

The request of the leader was made at the inauguration speech of the IADB Assembly, which is going to be held until March 31.

“Solved, as it appears to be, the multilateral financing for 2009, now we have to clear the road for 2010 and 2011. There is no better agenda for the integration of the entire hemisphere that guarantee financing during the crisis”, highlighted the leader.

Also, he repeated that concerning financing, the approach of Colombia is to strengthen all multilateral institutions.

In that way President Uribe said he was satisfied by the evolution of the plan focused on achieve the organization’s capitalization.

“We celebrate that the meeting of Governors today is following the right course to guarantee its capitalization”, he said.

He added that the expectation is that “this course to capitalize the IADB could be concreted in the formalization of decisions that all (the countries) are looking for”.

He reminded that while in July of 2008 multilateral institutions had extra money and few countries turned to them, now these organizations have over demand in the request for advances.
