At the capita of Antioquia, the Head of State held six bilateral meetings, with the Nobel Price of Economy, Robert Merton; the State Secretary for Foreign Trade of France, Anne-Marie Idrac, among others. The leader participated, form the Central Complex of Sena, in the videoconference with different cities of the country where the Government’s Microcredit and Social Services Round is taking place in.
Medellín, March 28 (SP). The president of Colombia, Álvaro Uribe Vélez, held six bilateral meetings this Saturday, in which it was, stand out the meeting with the former President of the United States, William J. Clinton, in the 50th Governors Assembly of the Inter American Development Bank (IADB) in the city of Medellín.
From the Plaza Mayor Convention Center, the Head of State had the first bilateral meeting with the Peruvian former Minister, Raúl Díez Canseco, who received an honor mention in the “Social Businessman Excellency” award, given by the Micro-enterprise Unit of the IADB.
During the meeting were also the Councillor Minister of the Presidency, Claudia Jiménez and the Private Secretary, Alicia Arango.
After that, he had a meeting with the Nobel Price of Economy, Robert Merton to go trough subjects related with the international economic crisis and Colombia and Latina America’s perspective facing the market situation.
As part of this meeting, the turn was for the former President of the United States Bill Clinton. At the meeting were among others, Trade Minister, Luis Guillermo Plata, Minister of Mines and Energy, Hernán Martínez, the Director of National Planning, Carolina Rentería, the IADB Representative for Colombia, Luis Guillermo Echeverry, and some advisors of the former President.
The next meeting was with the Finance Minister of Venezuela, Alí Rodríguez to evaluate mutual interests of the bilateral agenda.
The bilateral meetings ended with separated meetings with the State Secretary for Foreign Trade of France, Anne-Marie Idrac and the Director of Poder Magazine, Isaac Lee.
Microcredit Round Participation
Before the bilateral meetings, around 2pm, President Uribe led the Microcredit and Government Services Round, held in the Central Complex of Antioquia’s Sena, at Medellín.
In this place, using a videoconference, the Head of State made contact with several regions to evaluate the first results of this initiative, conducted all around the country since the past 27 of March, to inform the Colombians about the microcredit opportunities through the program Bank of Opportunities and other social programs led by the Government. |
