The Head of State had a meeting with the most important businessman of Latin America, where he asked them to help protecting employment, and that way give more opportunities to overcome poverty.
Cartagena, March 10 (SP). President Alvaro Uribe Velez appealed Latin American businessman to keep trust in Colombia, develop their investment expectations and help protecting employment in our country.
“What I have done is to tell them: please, trust in Colombia, invest in Colombia, and help us generating employment, help Colombian people to have opportunities to face poverty”, said the President after the meeting held in Cartagena.
After gathering with business leaders – who met in the capital of Bolivar to evaluate the current behavior of international markets – the Chairman spoke to the press, and highlighted that preserving investment trust, with social responsibility, guarantee prosperity for the country.
He pointed that responsible investment is one of the requirements that Colombia needs to prosper and solve social issues. “For example, if we have a labor brotherhood in this economy crisis, Colombia can minimize it impact through the trust of the investors.
Now, if we keep investment trust, once we get over the crisis, the investment must grow in countries like Colombia, for having the vision of preserving this kind of confidence”, highlighted.
President Uribe said that in spite of the international crisis, investors trust the country. “There is a big crisis in world economy, there is fear, however the people trust in Colombia. You fell like Colombia is cutting edge, that Colombia is appreciated, valuated and we need investment to come to our country.” |
