Present C.E.O. Responsible for the definition and execution of the strategy to fuel Colombia’s economic growth through Trade, Tourism and Foreign Direct Investment (formerly 3 separate Agencies were responsible for each role).
Trade
• Led Colombia through the fastest trade expansion in its recent history amidst strong revaluation of the Colombian Peso versus the dollar; obtained double digit growth over three years in a row and overall growth of over 100%. Broke the barrier of US$ 20 billion/year in exports for the first time.
• Generated over 6.000 concrete business opportunities for more than 2.100 SME’s closing on US$355 million in direct sales for 2005.
• Grew exports in 37 markets which comprise 97% of total Colombian exports.

Tourism
• Re-ignited Colombia’s promotion of tourism after a 6 year hiatus. Defined strategy, target markets and target destinations. This year Colombia will be visited by 1 million foreign tourists, the highest since 1982.
• Negotiated charter flights from Canada and Italy, re-establishing weekly flights to/from Colombia.
• Won for Colombia the seat for the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association Platinum Members meeting in June 2006 and the Assembly for the World Tourism Organization in 2007.
Investment
• Successfully merged the former investment promotion agency, Coinvertir, into Proexport.
• Defined Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) promotion strategy and initiated strong targeted promotion. This year Colombia will receive over $4 billion in new FDI, the highest since 1997.
• Defined priorities and agenda with the President’s office and relevant government departments to make Colombia a more competitive destination to attract FDI.
Corporate
• Transformed Proexport implementing a new work scheme, defining clear impact targets, and changing corporate structure and compensation based on results (first for a Government agency).
• Redesigned sales process for all 3 business units and developed and implemented a CRM to track down and assist in closing business opportunities.
• Designed and implemented new promotion tools which made Proexport recipient of a special award by the United Nations Commission on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) at the World Trade Promotion Conference in Malta in 2004.
• Lead a group of 218 employees with 6 offices in Colombia and 15 around the world.
January 2002 - PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN DR. ALVARO URIBE VELEZ BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA
August 2002 Executive Director and Legal Representative. Managed Presidential Campaign for current President of Colombia,
achieving a first round win with over 53% of total votes.
• Designed overall campaign structure and operations countrywide, managing over 34 regional offices.
• Managed all the finances for the campaign, achieving all goals below budget and decided on all investment allocations maximizing electoral ROI.
• Designed media plans and budgets for TV, radio and printed media.
• Prepared all legal and financial reports to be submitted to the National Electoral Council. Received special praise for clear, concise and timely reporting.
1999 - 2001 SIMPLEXIS.COM SAN FRANCISCO, CA
VP of Sales and Business Development, Co-founder. Founded e-procurement solutions provider for public sector institutions.
• Founded and grew the company to become the leading e-procurement provider for the education sector.
• Recruited Lamar Alexander (former Secretary of Education of the United States and presidential candidate) to be Chairman of the Board and Co-founder. Also, recruited 5 advisory board members. Coordinated and leveraged company advisory board member’s relationships and experience.
• Recruited, trained and managed over 30 professionals for sales, strategic partnerships, technical implementation and content management teams. Set up processes and managed all four departments.
• Closed Simplexis’ preferred relationship with IBM Global Services as the exclusive IBM partner in education procurement. In addition, developed and managed strategic partnerships with GE Supply, Compaq, SAP, Lexmark, NCS, and Office Depot among others.
